Two arrested for growing marijuana in Palm Springs

A man and woman were arrested today for allegedly growing cannabis at a North Palm Springs residence where authorities found more than 460 marijuana plants, a sheriff’s sergeant said. Justin David Chapman, 30, and Jennifer Tran Chapman, 46, were arrested around 7:20 a.m. when Riverside County sheriff’s deputies served a search warrant at the residence in the 60000 block of Palm Oasis Avenue.

The warrant was issued as part of an ongoing narcotics investigation in the unincorporated county area of North Palm Springs known as Windy Point, sheriff’s Sgt. Vic Trevino said. Deputies discovered that the residence had been modified so marijuana could be grown and processed, and they seized 467 marijuana plants, 15 pounds of processed pot and packaging material, Trevino said.

The suspects were booked into the Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility in Banning, but bail information wasn’t immediately available.
