Quake hits south of Coachella Valley

An earthquake with a magnitude of 3.3 rocked the mountains south of the Coachella Valley at 10:33 a.m. Monday.

The epicenter was about 18 miles south of La Quinta, or 9 miles north of Borrego Springs, near the Riverside-San Diego County line, according to the Southern California Earthquake Center.

Sheriff’s dispatchers confirmed there were no reports of damage.

Some of our viewers in Thermal, La Quinta, Indio and Coachella reported feeling and/or hearing the earthquake on Monday morning.

(Note: Borrego Springs is noted at ‘A’, the quake happened about 9 miles north)
