Two teens arrested for stealing a cash register

Two teenaged burglars were caught taking a cash register out of a Cathedral City restaurant early Saturday, police said.

An officer on patrol spotted a 19-year-old man and 17-year-old girl coming out the front door of the Tortillas Restaurant, 32123 Cathedral Canyon Drive, carrying the register.

The adult suspect and his teen-age companion bolted in different directions when officers arrived at 5:19 a.m., the Cathedral City Police reported.

The male burglary suspect tossed the register over a block wall as he ran from police. He was arrested and later identified as Elizandro Rodriguez, 19, of Cathedral City.

The girl was publicly identified only as a 17-year-old Thousand Palms resident.
