Woman crashes into power pole on Washington St.

CHP is investigating after a woman drove off the road and collided with a power pole on Washington Street Thursday afternoon.

The crash happened at about 12 p.m. in an unincorporated county area north of Palm Desert. Officers said the woman was driving south on Washington Street when she somehow lost control of her vehicle and struck the power line.

Washington Street was closed at Ramon Road while officers cleared the scene. The power pole was slightly dislodged and it was never blocking traffic.

IID was called to shut off power in the area.

The woman injured her shoulder slightly in the crash. Officers said they don’t believe she was under the influence but they’re still looking into the cause.
