Man arrested for allegedly running over dog intentionally

A 35 year old Lake Elsinore man has been arrested on animal cruelty charges after numerous people reported seeing him drag and run over a three-month-old dog Friday morning.

Victor Pere-Guzman was taken into custody Monday.

According to a release from the Lake Elsinore Police Department, officers were called to the 2900 block of Rolando Road at about 11 a.m. Friday to investigate the animal cruelty call.

When they arrived, they found the deceased dog but weren’t able to locate the suspect’s vehicle, a dark-colored Nissan pickup truck.

Witnesses said the pickup truck was dragging the dog to a home on Rolando Road and then the driver ran the dog over to kill it. At the time of the incident, they weren’t able to determine the suspect’s identity.

The investigation continued throughout the weekend and officers located the suspect’s pickup truck at about 6 a.m. Monday.

The driver was identified as Pere-Guzman. He was arrested for cruelty to an animal and booked into the Southwest Detention Center, according to police.

The investigation continues and the Lake Elsinore Police Department is asking anyone with information about the incident to call Deputy Mix at (951) 245-3300 or by emailing LakeElsinoreStation@RiversideSheriff.org.
