Desert Arc opens recycling facility in Indio

Charity organization Desert Arc opened it’s new, larger recycling facility in Indio Monday. The 10,000 square foot operations center was necessary after Desert Arc outgrew its previous two recycling facilities.

The new facility, located at 45875 Commerce Street, employs 30 developmentally disabled Desert Arc clients.

The charity has trucks that will pick up household recycling like cans and cardboard, as well as larger items like refrigerators and e-waste.

“We help people get rid of things they don’t want and need to get rid of, we process it here,” says President and CEO Rick Balocco. “We have jobs here. It’s a great community benefit. Their excess recyclables are jobs for our Desert Arc clients and the end result, a good benefit for the community.”

Desert Arc gets funding for employing their clients, while also getting a portion of the recycled materials.
