Relay for Life at Wet ‘n’ Wild Palm Springs this Saturday
At most Relay for Life events hundreds of people walk the track at local schools or parks to take a stand against cancer, but this year the Relay for Life of Palm Springs wants to make a splash at Wet ‘n’ Wild Palm Springs this Saturday.
“We’re hosting our Palm Springs Relay at Wet ‘N’ Wild. It’s a little different than other Relays,” said Relay Manager Stacy Estrada.
How will a relay at the water park work? Opening Ceremony kicks off at 3 p.m. followed by the Survivors Lap around the Lazy River. Festivities include live entertainment, food, fun in the sun and cancer awareness.
“One of our main goals is to highlight skin cancer. Leading into the summer, we want people to know how to prevent certain cancers,” said Estrada.
How much does it cost to participate?
The event is free for cancer survivors and participants who attend only from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m.
If you’d like to ride the slides and enjoy the park all day, a $25 ticket supports the American Cancer Society and includes parking. To receive free parking, please mention you are attending the Relay event.
To incorporate an empowering Relay tradition, the Luminaria Ceremony will light up the water park pools at 8:30 p.m. in support of and in memory of love ones with cancer.
“It is thinking outside the box. Our goal is to fund raise and raise money for cancer services. We definitely want to make it a fun event and family-filled,” said Estrada.
