DWA ready to spend $1M on Turf Buy Back program
The Desert Water Agency is ready to spend another $1 million on its Turf Buy Back program. Officials said they’ll be using a combination of grant money and the existing budget to create the program for the 2015/2016 fiscal year.
DWA’s board of supervisors voted on Tuesday for the $1 million Turf Buy Back and officials said it will create more funding for rebates.
The agency is making some changes to the program to make sure it’s effective and efficient. Right now, the agency is not accepting applications until the program details are finalized.
Officials will announce when the agency begins collecting applications again.
Officials said although many people are eager to start their projects, DWA is advising its customers to not remove their turf until their project is approved, or they will be ineligible for the program.
