Bikers roll out to PS Council meeting, want ‘American Heat’ back on
Dozens of bikers and business owner showed up to the Palm Springs City Council meeting upset over the cancellation of American Heat Biker Weekend.
‘I’m here to represent all the riders and all the businesses burned by American Heat’s cancellatio ,” said Greg LaRivere owner of Palm Canyon Roadhouse. “Hotel, bar owners, cab drivers, and everyone on every level that has been effected by this bad decision,” said LaRivere.
“It’s just not right, there’s a lot of nice people that want to ride and there is no fear here, I just don’t like it,” said Blair Stilwel of Desert Hot Springs.
American Heat was cancelled when PS Resorts pulled out of the event due to security concerns stemming from a shooting in Waco Texas in May.
“This is what the city looks at and sometimes they go way overboard for something that happened over 1400 miles away,” said Stephen Martel of Desert Hot Springs.
Local business owners say they will lose thousands of dollars with the event being canceled.
Palm Springs City Council members said there was nothing they could do after the promoter pulled out of the event.
The police chief also spoke but would not give specifics on any possible threats that would lead to the cancellation of American Heat.
