Woman arrested for allegedly pistol-whipping man in attempted robbery
The Palm Springs Police Department arrested a woman early Thursday morning after she allegedly struck a man in the face with a gun after demanding he hand over his wallet.
Alisha Noreen Elam, a 31-year-old Palm Springs resident, is facing felony charges of attempted robbery and assault with a firearm, said Sgt. Harvey Reed.
Officers were called to the 300 block of E. Amado Road around 3 a.m. after the victim reported the incident. He told police the suspect pointed a gun at him while demanding his wallet. When he retreated to his vehicle, Elam allegedly struck him in the face with the gun.
The woman then ran away westbound on Amado Road. Officers found Elam shortly after and she was taken to the Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility in Banning, according to the release.
Officers haven’t released her booking photo yet.
