Locals, visitors welcome brief rainy weather

Clouds blanketed the desert and brought some cool relief from the heat Tuesday, with rain turning on and off throughout the day.As the wet weather moved into Desert Hot Springs and beyond,we spotted some locals in Rancho Mirage welcoming the rain.

“We love the weather,” said Claudia Rodriguez of Indio. “We don’t always get rain. It’s perfect weather to just sit outside and enjoy coffee.”

While rain soaked roads, shopping centers and vehicles, people took shelter under umbrellas and others weathered the drizzly conditions.
Some Valley residents said the change in weather was much-needed.

“We’ve been waiting for rain for so long. We wish it would come more. We need water,” said Kathleen Isaacson.

However, some Coachella Valley visitors said they hoped for a brighter day during their stay.

When the roads get drenched take precautions. Drive slowly, turn on your headlights and avoid fast moving water.

“Just be careful. People who live here aren’t used to the rain. The roads are really slippery, and enjoy,” said Isaacson.

When it rains, take advantage and turn off your sprinklers. Let the wet conditions do the job.
