Car fire on I-10 westbound causes delays

Westbound I-10 is almost back to normal after a car became fully engulfed in flames following a crash Tuesday morning.

Authorities said a Ford Focus rear-ended a Ford F-150 just east of the Washington Street exit at about 7:30 a.m. After the collision, the Focus traveled into the center divider and caught fire.

Nobody was injured but the crash caused some pretty significant delays for commuters. A second crash happened shortly after involving a Toyota and a Honda, but it wasn’t believed to be connected to the car fire collision.

Traffic was backed up for about three miles on the 10 westbound near Washington Street but the car has been towed from the area and traffic was expected to be moving smoothly once again.
