California woman whose dogs ran on freeway was previously banned from having pets
Prosecutors say a woman arrested following a car chase while her six dogs ran into California freeway lanes had been banned from having pets because of a pending animal abuse case.
The Los Angeles Times reports Tiffini Tobe appeared in court Wednesday in connection with the chase and pleaded not guilty to several charges including driving under the influence.
The 47-year-old was arrested Monday after a pursuit that ended when a CHP vehicle knocked her Mercedes sideways on Interstate 710 in Long Beach.
In June she was charged with a misdemeanor count of keeping an animal without proper care after one of her pit bulls was seen with an exposed bone. Prosecutors say the dog had chewed off its own leg.
The dogs in her car Monday were taken to a shelter and appear to be healthy.
