Multi-billion dollar resort could touch down in Coachella

A Canadian architecture company and developer called Moon World Resorts, Inc. plans to develop a $4 billion, 5-star resort in Coachella, according to a news release posted online earlier this week.

“In a world rewarding disrupters, MOON will fulfill the obvious void within the resort destination space where square-box mediocrity and repetitious offerings have become the norm. A completely fresh, dynamic, creative and spectacular paradigm-shift is long overdue!” read the release.

The all-suite project is slated to include 4,000 rooms, a large event space, convention halls, restaurants and a beach club.

City of Coachella Economic Development Manager Mark Weber confirms to CBS Local2/KESQ the project is in the beginning stages, and has a few sites that would work for their project in Coachella.
