Goldenvoice helps improves community
The people behind Coachella and Stagecoach are working to be good neighbors.
We’ve learned of several projects concert promoter Goldenvoice is backing to help improve the community around the festival venue.
Noise is one of the biggest complaints neighbors have about the giant music festivals. Over the years Goldenvoice has paid for community improvements and now we’ve learned of a new project to help with the noise.
The Rancho Santana sits across the street from the Empire Polo Grounds, home to the Coachella and Stagecoach music festivals.
“It’s pretty loud. Coachella tends to be the loudest and the main acts keep ramping it up. At this point we are pretty used to it,” said resident John Bertram.
It’s three weekends a year where nearly a 100,000 people descend to watch world renowned artists each day.
“If you walk outside you are going to hear the concert,” said resident Debbie Frazer.
To help with the noise, Goldenvoice is planting nearly 900 fast-growing drought-resistant hedges along the community’s wall on Avenue 52. The wall runs between Monroe Street and Clinton Street.
“It’s above and beyond what’s required,” said resident Mitchell Gold.
Once fully grown the hedges are supposed to not only look nice but also serve a purpose.
“They are really going to be for two benefits, one is for noise, the other is to prevent any vandalism,” said Frazer.
“It looks like its going to be beautiful, it looks like they put a lot of thought into it,” said Gold.
Goldenvoice is paying for the nearly $100,000 landscaping project and it’s not the first nor the last one the concert promoter has been involved with.
“A couple of years ago Goldenvoice did help fund the widening of Avenue 50 to help access to the venue from Jefferson and they are currently collaborating with the city of La Quinta to do the same for a widening project on Ave 52,” said La Quinta Mayor Linda Evans.
Goldenvoice is also behind the sculpture that’s become a fixture on the Jefferson Ave 52 circle.
“It’s a positive influence on the whole Valley,” said Gold.
Goldenvoice is also upgrading Rancho Santana’s irrigation system to accommodate the new landscaping.
