Family offers reward for lead in arrest of Cathedral City deadly shooter
On January 31, someone shot and killed 22-year-old Robert Yerenawhile he drove on Ramon Road near Landau Boulevard in Cathedral City just after 8:30 p.m.
“We have put all our faith in the Cathedral City Police Department hoping they’ll find the monster who has brutally murdered Robert. Unfortunately, we have yet to find any solace in the case,” said Delia Ruiz, Yerena’s grandmother.
Yerena’s family members said Monday they believe his killer followed him and they’re calling on witnesses to come forward. They’re offering a $1,000 reward for substantial information that leads to the arrest of the suspect.
“Especially with our daughter. He was the best dad, so it’s hard not having him here when she asks for him. We just need to know what happened,” said Yerena’s girlfriend Aaliyah Deleon.
With our help, police received surveillance video from businesses in the area, but officers said the video isn’t clear enough to show who killed Yerena, but it is useful.
“Considering the location of the crime and the time it occurred, we know someone saw something that day or knows something that could help solve this case,” said Ruiz.
The family wants the police department to be more upfront with them and keep Yerena’s death top of mind.
“We’re not going to let it go. We’re going to keep on bugging them and do what we have to do to find out what happened,” said Deleon.
Cathedral City police said they can’t go into a lot of detail, but they are actively working the case and carefully looking at all leads.
