Issues plague former Verizon customers after Frontier switch

Customers across the Coachella Valley are still having problems with their phone, Internet, and television following Frontier Communications taking over for Verizon about three weeks ago.

They’re not alone. Complaints are wide spread in California, Florida, and Texas.

Over at S.O.S Resale Boutique and Veteran’s Communication Center in Palm Desert the owners of the nonprofit had to fight for days to get their phone and internet back. The store is used to raise money to get active-duty Marines to and from the airport and help veterans with various issues.

“The most frustrating part of the ordeal was that every time you would call, they would say you are not a customer and that you don’t have an account. I would keep arguing that we do,” said Erica Stone, founding director of S.O.S.

Along with being on hold for hours at a time. many times when technicians were scheduled to come fix the problem, they were no shows, leaving the store unable to do credit card transactions or having Internet to help veterans.

“We had a veteran that came in to have us help him fill out benefit forms for the VA and we were not able to do it, and had to postpone it another week so that we could have Internet access,” said Stone.

Some residents, like Sandy Goldman of Indian Wells, were having similar problems with their phone, TV and Internet for more than a week.

“I called and they said that they were having software issues on the takeover and they would have somebody out on Monday. Well, they did come out on Monday, but they called my house phone, which was not working, so I missed them,” said Goldman.

Goldman went straight the top to try to get her services working.

“Then I thought I’m going to call the CEO and I found out the name of the CEO of Frontier in Connecticut and I called his office,” said Goldman.

Since that call, things are back to normal. Frontier Communications has been checking on Goldman almost daily to make sure things are working.

According to a representative with Frontier Communications, the company is in the process of completing the transition of more than 1 million customers in California alone. The company is working quickly to restore any service issues.
