Resale sites selling Desert Trip tickets for thousands
With both weekends of the Desert Trip concert series sold out in just hours, people are trying to cash in and resell tickets to the all-star rock n’ roll event in October.
On ticket resale websites such as Stubhub, people are selling general admission tickets starting around $850. That’s double the original cost.

For better seats, some tickets are selling for thousands of dollars above the original price.
Our station has had dozens of phone calls, Facebook messages and emails from locals who are upset they were unable to buy tickets Monday.
Both weekends of Desert Trip now sold out
“I logged on at 10 in the morning and they [Goldenvoice] said you could call in as well so we did that, and I think by 10 o’clock they said they were sold out of general admission tickets,” Ann Rocks of Cathedral City said. “Then they added another weekend and by noon those tickets were gone.”
Rocks wasn’t alone. Our station received dozens of phone calls and Facebook posts from people saying they were angry and disappointed that they wasted hours of their day just to receive a message saying the concert was sold out.
Representatives with Indio Chamber of Commerce say the fact that tickets sold out so quickly is a sign that this concert is going to rock and roll the economy of the desert this fall.
“For them to sell out two weekends just minutes after putting it up is pretty impressive. It speaks to the vision of Goldenvoice if they put this together and people will come and they’re being validated,” said Joshua Bonner, president and CEO of the Indio Chamber of Commerce.
Goldenvoice announced it is offering local valley residents the opportunity to purchase 3-day passes to this October’s Desert Trip. Residents may purchase a pair of passes with proof of residency.
Passes will be available for purchase in person on Wednesday, October 5th, 2016. Resident sale location and times to be announced closer to October. 1000 3-day General Admission (GA) passes will be available while supplies last. 3-day General Admission (GA) Passes are $435, all fees included.
