Woman bit by rattlesnake while hiking in Palm Springs

Crews rescued a woman who was bit by a rattlesnake while she was hiking in the Palm Springs mountains Wednesday morning.

Officials said the woman was hiking on the Skyline Trail in Tahquitz Falls, west of Palm Springs, for several miles when she was bit.

A California Highway Patrol helicopter found the woman and and Riverside County Sheriff’s Helicopter hoisted her to a nearby landing zone at La Mirada Road and Sunny Dunes Road where paramedics were standing by, authorities said.

The woman was taken to the hospital with moderate injuries, authorities said. She was stable when paramedics took her to the hospital.
