DHS Police Officers Save a Life
“In the academy they teach you we respond, every thing we do is usually an automatic reaction so you need to react real quick.” Officer Hutch the first on the scene said.
“Upon arriving I saw him trying to give first aid to a man that was having a seizure, I also heard it over the radio so when I responded we moved him to a flat surface. We tried to gain a pulse, tried to gain a pulse, he wasn’t breathing.” Officer Zamora said, the second on the call.
After Officer Zamora arrived on the scene, she was able to originally bring life back into the man, but shortly after the breathing went away again, and she was not going to give up.
“Again I did chest compression and rescue breaths and he came back and by that time we had a pulse, and he was still shallow breathing.” added Zamora.
“The officer pulled up and the car was still rolling and she was jumping out, she ran over real quickly and me and her helped me do work on the man, bring him back again. That’s how it should be.” A witness and helper during the incident Cliff Rew said.
The officers were True heroes on this day but for them it’s another day at the job.
“Ultimately it’s a shocking feeling because you see it happen all the time, but you don’t expect it to happen to you. Matter is this is just one life we saved yesterday, we save lives everyday. When we pull people over and they are talking on their cell phones, we just saved a life.”
“You just do what you got to do, that’s what we are here for”
