An overnight freeway closure was impacting traffic on Interstate 10 in Indio early Thursday morning for a second day in a row.
EASTBOUND freeway traffic was being detoured off the freeway at the Jefferson Street exit and onto a frontage road as crews work to place steel girders for a second new bridge now under construction at the Jefferson Street Interchange.
Westbound I-10 traffic was not impacted by the closure.
Motorists entering the freeway from Indio Boulevard and Jefferson Street were being detoured to Washington Street or Monroe.
Eastbound traffic was expected to be detoured until the project wrapped up for the day by 6:00 a.m. Tuesday.
No major delays were being reported as of 4:00 a.m., but traffic typically picks up at 5:00 a.m., so motorists were urged to use caution.
