2 big rigs removed from I-10 after early morning crash
The two big rigs that were blocking traffic Friday morning on eastbound I-10, following an early morning collision east of Dillon Road, have been removed from the roadway, about six hours after the crash was reported.
The California Highway Patrol said the semi trucks were cleared at about 11:20 a.m., but traffic is still slow moving in the area because a hazmat crew is working to clean a diesel fuel spill.
The wreck was reported in the freeway’s eastbound lanes just east of Dillon Road at 5:22 a.m. One truck was on its side, with fuel and debris scattered in the slow lane, which was blocked.
CHP said the two drivers were taken to the hospital with moderate injuries.
The incident was declared a hazmat and additional resources were requested. Two tow trucks were called to secure the semi-truck on a steep hill.
The second is to upright the other semi-truck on its side. One semi-truck was carrying an empty load. The other was carrying a load of plastic balls.
The California Highway Patrol said motorists should expect some slowing through the area.
Westbound traffic was not impacted by the collision.
