Golf tournament to help local firefighter battling cancer

A golf tournament will help a local firefighter, and mother of twin girls, who is battling stage 4 cancer.

Sara Thomas was born and raised in Indio and is a firefighter working out of the Shadow Hills Station there. Last December, Thomas was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer.

Firefighters are now putting together a special golf tournament June 9th at the Hyatt Grand Champions in Indian Wells.

The golfing event will cost $150 per person and includes a cart, range facilities and a dinner. The day will also include different contests, silent auctions and raffles.

If any one is interested in participating or donating money, you can find more information at HelpSaraThomas.com.

Proceeds from this tournament and donations will help with much needed treatment.
