No threat found after bomb squad investigates suspicious package

The Bomb Squad has determined the suspicious package found at a building near Palm Desert City Hall Wednesday morning was not an explosive, and there was no threat to the public.

The building’s tenants include the Coachella Valley Association of Governments. The sheriff’s department was called to the 73700 block of Fred Waring Drive at about 10:40 a.m.

The bomb squad responded to identify the package. Deputy Armando Munoz with the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department said the package didn’t contain any type of explosive or hazardous material.

The scene was cleared shortly after 1 p.m.
