Jackknifed truck closes freeway in Cabazon
No injuries were reported following a big rig semi collision on Interstate 10 in Cabazon early Tuesday morning at 2:46 a.m.
Two big trucks were reportedly involved in the collision on the freeway’s eastbound lanes just east of Apache Trail and the Morongo Casino.
One jackknifed, blocking all eastbound lanes.
One of the trucks was leaking fuel onto the road.
A SigAlert was issued at 3:25 a.m.
The California Highway Patrol said motorists were inching by the crash site using the center shoulder.
They hoped to have the eastbound lanes back open by 5:30 a.m., but the road was still blocked at 6:00 a.m. and traffic was backed up approximately a mile and a half.
Westbound lanes were not impacted by the closure.
Tow trucks were called in to remove a badly damaged big rig tractor.
