One person dead after crash in Chiriaco Summit

One person is dead and three are hurt after a car crash on the 10 freeway in Chiriaco Summit.

Cal Fire/Riverside County Firefighters responded to a report of a traffic collision on eastbound Interstate 10 east of Hayfield Road. Cal Fire says a single vehicle went into the center divide. Two of those hurt have serious injuries.

The person who died was the only one in the car who wasn’t wearing a seat belt, according to authorities. The driver was a 43-year-old man from Tempe, Arizona. Alcohol and/or drugs were not factors in the crash.

The road reamined open and no traffic was affected.

The accident is still under investigation.
