2 people injured in rollover crash on Highway 86

An SUV overturned in Thermal late Monday afternoon, injuring two people, including one who was ejected from the vehicle and airlifted to a hospital in serious condition.

The crash was reported at 4:13 p.m. on state Route 86, near Avenue 72 in Thermal. One of the SUV’s occupants sustained major injuries after being ejected from the vehicle and was taken to a hospital via a California Highway Patrol
helicopter, said April Newman of the Riverside County Fire Department.

A second victim suffered moderate injuries and was taken to a hospital via ambulance, Newman said. CHP reported that the left lane of the highway was blocked as a result of the crash.
