52nd Palm Desert golf cart parade draws crowds
Hundreds of people gathered Sunday for the 52nd annual Palm Desert Golf Cart Parade. Dozens of golf carts rolled down Palm Desert’s famous shopping district, El Paseo, on Sunday morning, including one decorated by our very own CBS Local 2 news team. “It was a fabulous, fabulous event. The weather was perfect and the floats were spectacular,” said one spectator. Golf carts, ghosts, and glitter was the this year’s theme and those who participated didn’t disappoint. “I liked the big one with the skeleton on it and a bunch of like haunted houses on it, it was good,” said another spectator enjoying the show. That cart was decorated and designed by members of the Desert Arc, the valley’s largest non- profit. “We won a 500 dollar check, as well as a trophy that says we’re the best overall,” said Desert Arc’s senior vice president, Mitch Blumberg. That cash reward is going straight to a good cause. “Something that they need to keep our facilities upwards or to improve something. We’re always improving something,” said Blumberg. Many locals are already curious about what next year’s parade has in store. “It was a fun theme this year, and last year, and I’m looking forward to next year.”
