Cathedral City high school students take new twist on Cinco De Mayo
Many people throughout the valley are enjoying their drinks in celebration of Cinco de Mayo.
But while others partied, Cathedral City high school students added a little flair to their Friday afternoon bringing cheer to the senior center.
“Cinco de Mayo is something we celebrate every year and this year I thought how better to spend it than if not with some seniors in our community so I wanted to come volunteer help maybe bond you know do some dancing,” 16-year-old Cathedral City High School student Sasha said.
More than 60 seniors and volunteers spent time dancing, playing Loteria and sharing stories.
“It was really fun. I wasn’t expecting all this,” Don Deboer of Cathedral City said.
“It’s something that makes me feel really good not just about myself, it lets me know that there are simple things that make people happy,” Sasha said.
While people spent the day celebrating, the bonds between these generations will last a lifetime.
