Christopher Kennedy featured on ‘House Hunters Renovation’
Palm Springs designer Christopher Kennedy was featured on the latest episode of HGTV’s “House Hunters Renovation.”
Eye on the Desert’s Alexandra Pierce talked to Kennedy about what it was like to be on this iconic show.
“The whole experience of doing a TV show, I don’t want to disappoint, but it’s kind of like doing my day job. Just dealing with clients and contractors and budgets, but with cameras following me around,” Kennedy said.
The seasoned decorator is no stranger to stress. He has designed four show houses for Modernism Week for the past four years.
Now he took his talents to TV.
“My client, Susan, wanted a home in Palm Springs and the whole cocktail culture that we’re known for. She found a great house, on a golf course in Rancho Mirage. So my goal was to bring that Palm Springs swank into a home in Rancho Mirage,” Kennedy said.
His favorite part of the renovation, was the kitchen.
“We took out a breakfast room, which we do a lot. No one needs a breakfast room, a formal dining room or a great outdoor eating space and we eat in front of the TV or at restaurants anyway. So I took two spaces, to make one beautiful showstopping kitchen,” Kennedy said.
He said he’s proud the episode could shine a light on his home.
“Everything I do, my product lines, my show house, my books, they’re all really a love song to a town that’s given me so much,” Kennedy said.
If you missed the episode you can catch it this Saturday on HGTV at 10 p.m.
