Mobile homes catch fire near Indio’s Empire Polo Grounds

Firefighters are responding to a structure fire near the Empire Polo Grounds in Indio.

The fire was first reported at 5:55 p.m. at the La Quinta Ridge Home Park on the 81000 block of Avenue 52.

Firefighters arrived on scene and reported a fully involved structure.

According to Cal Fire, the fire has spread to multiple mobile homes with multiple exposures. Firefighters have requested additional resources.

Firefighters at the scene told KESQ / CBS Local 2 that at least two homes and a shed were completely destroyed, but no injuries have been reported.

An 85-year-old woman was displaced, according to neighbors, she was asleep when the fire started and had to be rescued by neighbors.

The fire was fully contained at 8:00 p.m.

Heavy smoke was reported from viewers all over the Valley.
