Duo arrested in connection with Rancho Mirage burglary

(CNS) – A pair of burglary suspects remained jailed today accused of breaking into a Rancho Mirage business, assaulting an employee and stealing merchandise.

Dominic Battiato, 33, was arrested at 9 p.m. Thursday when Riverside County sheriff’s deputies served a search warrant at a residence in the 46800 block of Jackson Street in Indio and found stolen property related to the
burglary, said Sgt. Robert Garcia.

Battiato’s alleged accomplice, Paige Groves, 27, was arrested shortly before midnight at the intersection of Madison Street and Highway 111 in Indio.

The break-in occurred about six hours prior at a business in the 34200 block of Monterey Avenue, Garcia said. Details about the heist were scant and it was unclear if the employee assaulted during the burglary was injured.

Groves and Battiato were booked into the Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility on suspicion of various felonies, including burglary and receiving stolen property.

At the time of her arrest, Groves was out on bail in connection with another alleged crime, according to jail records.
