Indio CHP issue 10 citations during pedestrian safety enforcement operation

The California Highway Patrol issued 10 citations during school bus safety enforcement operation in Coachella and Mecca.

The operation was conducted on Tuesday at Coachella Valley High School and Saul Martinez Elementary School and focused on motorists who fail to stop for a school bus.

These efforts are a part of the CHP’s initiative to improve pedestrian safety within the community.

The CHP recommends motorists to not pass a school when red lights are flashing, slow down for yellow flashing lights on a school bus, be alert for children walking on roads and to slow down in school zones, before and after school.

Funding for this program is provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
