Palm Springs High School holds lunchtime forum on gun violence

Members of Palm Springs High School’s student government organized a lunchtime forum on gun violence today.

“You should be safe in a school, in a movie theater, in a church, in a gay club, in your own home. We are thinking about change. We must not only think about school shootings but of all gun violence committed,” said Jenan, a student at PSHS.

Several students took to the mic to express their opinions about gun violence. Many of the students who attended the ‘March for Our Lives’ walk also went to today’s forum.

PSHS students did not stage a walkout, they stayed on campus during the forum. The forum was held to honor victims of gun violence across the country. Students also encouraged the 18 to 20 age group to register to vote. They wanted to let the younger generation know the importance of voting in order to have their voices heard and effect real change in America.

Tonight at 6:30 pm on CBS Local 2, students talk about why they want to encourage students to go out and vote.
