Weekend 2 kicks off as festival goers remember popular electric dance artist Avicii

Weekend 2 of Coachella is officially underway, the Weeknd once again headlined Friday night after a long delay for campers ended just before midnight last night.

Temperatures were even warmer than last weekend.

“I’m the SPF mom, So I carry around like all different forms of SPF, I spray their bodies down, SPF 60, I make sure they have SPF on their faces. I have a wide-brimmed hat, really good to protect you from the sun,” said Lauren Rubin, a festival-goer from Los Angeles.

Many attending also remembered popular electric dance music artist, who died this Friday morning. The death came as a shock to his fans.

“We were getting ready right now and I was shocked. He was only 28 years old so young to go,” said Savanah Valdez, from Indio.

Aurelio Alonso is a local DJ performing at Village 29, a campsite some Coachella goers are staying at this weekend.

“I did make a mix a little earlier here at Village 29 and made a dedication and let everyone know who’s heading out to Coachella to keep him in their minds,” Alonso said. “I did tell everyone don’t be surprised if you see a lot of artists dedicate sets to him and I hope I see that.”

Others are expecting the same tribute throughout the weekend.

“it’s really just a shame cause he’s really an incredible artist, and we’ll remember him,” said a group of festival goers..
