New “Uniquely Palm Springs” marketing campaign launched
The city of Palm Springs is making itself more competitive in vying for tourist dollars thanks to a new campaign launched Monday.
Three words that say it all, a new marketing campaign by the Palm Springs Bureau of Tourism, highlighting local businesses.
“Small businesses really are the fabric of Palm Springs. We’re the folks that make up the city,” Michael Green, Owner/Operator of the Triangle Hotel.
He’s thrilled to see the launch of the “Uniquely Palm Springs” campaign and believes it reinforces a small business image to visitors.
“They love the unique shops they can find things in. They love the really great bars and restaurants that we have, and they love to stay at the small hotels,” Green said.
The “Uniquely Palm Springs” campaign highlights local business owners through curated stories and interviews. At VisitPalmSprings.com participants are able to learn about small business owners as they tell their unique stories. Then they can enter to win a weekly contest by simply answering a few of fun facts. Highlighted businesses will change weekly.
City officials says there are about 700 locally-owned businesses making up the major backbone of the city’s economy.
“The jobs it provides, the revenue through sales tax, and it allows us to provide so much for our residents. It’s how we pay for our roads, maintain our parks,” Mayor Pro Tem Geoff Kors said.
The campaign even has some celebrity backing with TV host and part-time resident Ross Mathews serving as an ambassador to show why Palm Springs is like no place else.
“I think it’s important to highlight that, sort of to tell all of the people here why we’re so great. It’s good to have a nice reminder,” he said.
A reminder business owners like Green hope will continue to draw more crowds to the city.
Uniquely Palm Springs runs now through July 27. Visit www.Uniquelyps.com for a full list of locally owned businesses and their unique stories.
