The location “Good Good” ran at was reopened under the new “Flight Club.” As News Channel 3’s I-Team investigator Brooke Beare reported on Tuesday, the business’ armed security guard said “Flight Club” had re-opened lawfully. County officials denied this.
This evening at around 5:45 p.m., task force members raided “Flight Club.” According to the DA’s office, task force members seized 17 pounds of marijuana from the storefront operation and a cease and desist order was issued.
No arrests were made.
“The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department has a zero-tolerance policy for illegal marijuana operations,” said Riverside County Sheriff Chad Bianco, whose department is part of the task force. “We are committed to continuing to work with our local law enforcement agencies and our District Attorney to eradicate these illicit operations.”
Currently, no cannabis businesses in unincorporated communities like Sky Valley, Thermal or Thousand Palms have been given permits to operate. This means that any marijuana dispensary, collective or cultivation site outside of city limits is operating illegally.
Cannabis Regulation Task Force is operated by the Riverside County District Attorney’s Office to “protect properly licensed legal cannabis businesses and enforce regulatory requirements which protect the environment and consumers.”
According to the DA’s Office, the goal of the taks force isn’t to shut down legal facilities, but to “ensure fair business practices and keep criminal activity out of the legal cannabis industry and out of our communities.” Dispensaries that operate without following the law or regulations impact legal dispensaries with their unfair business practices.
Illegal or unlicensed dispensaries also may be providing customers with untested and potentially harmful products.
