Local police agencies warn against fake officer call scam

Two local police agencies are warning residents of a police impersonation phone scam.

Both the Cathedral City Police Department and the Desert Hot Springs Police Department is warning against a scam where a person saying they are CCPD or DHSPD police sergeant. In the call, the person will say their an arrest warrant for the person who answers.

Furthermore, in the CCPD scam, the caller will request money or give directions to deposit money into an account.

The CCPD and DHSPD want to remind residents they will not call you to notify you of a warrant or threaten to arrest you if you do not pay for the warrant
