Unplanned Indian Wells power outage may last until 8 p.m.

A power outage left 599 Southern California Edison customers without lights and air conditioning early Wednesday morning in Indian Wells.

As of 8:33 a.m. SCE updated its website to say 85 customers remained without service, and that most service would be restored by 8:00 p.m.

As of 5:05 a.m. SCE had said 391 customers remained without service.

The utility had not announced a cause for the outage, but a crew was seen making repairs near the intersection of Rancho Palmeras Drive and Highway 111.
