These East Valley roads are closed

Stormy weather knocked out power for over a thousand Imperial Irrigation District customers on Tuesday and snapped dozens of power poles.

On Thursday much of the East Valley is still recovering and several major roads remain shut down due to the damage.

According to a post from California Highway Patrol’s Indio station, the following roads will remain closed on Thursday:

Thermal Closures

Tyler Street between 65th and 63rd Ave 68 Ave at Polk St Harrison from 70th to Filmore St REOPENED: Polk Street from 70th Avenue to Harrison St. REOPENED: Filmore St. between 70th and 72nd Avenue

Mecca Closures

Date Palm between 65th and 66th Johnson Street at 64th Ave.

It’s estimated that the closures will remain in effect for at least two days, according to IID.

As of 10:30 p.m. Wednesday, IID told News Channel 3 that 160-170 customers in the Mecca Thermal area are still without power. The restoration timeline for the affected customers is still to be determined. The utility provider also suggests that anyone without service should check their breaker, then call IID if the outage is not breaker-related.
