Big rig overturns on I-10 in Palm Desert
Police and clean-up crews were working to clear the wreckage of a big rig semi truck that crashed and rolled over on Interstate 10 early Monday morning.
The crash was reported at 2:56 a.m. in the freeway's eastbound lanes in Palm Desert just east of Cook Street.
Traffic was initially stopped and detoured off the freeway but was allowed to continue eventually. The freeway's eastbound 1 and 2 lanes were closed for the clean-up effort.
The CHP says an eastbound vehicle also slammed into the back of the big truck's trailer. CHP initially said no injuries were reported, although one driver's injuries have been upgraded to "minor." All westbound lanes are open, but slowdowns were being experienced.
Expect delays in the area both directions.
