Palm Springs police investigate another shooting in Desert Highland Gateway Estates neighborhood
The Palm Springs Police Department investigated another shooting in the north end of the city Tuesday afternoon – an area with ongoing rival gang activity.
Police said a person was shot at near Gateway Drive and Eastgate N Road, in the Desert Highland Gateway Estates neighborhood, though nobody was struck by gunfire.
Police found dozens of shell casings, and said some cars and homes had been newly hit by gunfire.
Police said they've had more than 85 reports of shots fired in the area. In 40 to 50 of them, they found evidence of shootings.

"This is taking a tremendous toll on our staff," said Lt. William Hutchinson with Palm Springs Police Dept. "It seems that every 48 to 72 hours, we're having another incident of some type with no signs of slowing down."
Police said 15 arrests have been made so far in their investigation of the recent shootings.
