Prepare your pets for the storm
Riverside Country Department of Animal Services says pet/animal owners must focus on extra food, medicine, and water in case you are shut in during a natural disaster or asked to evacuate.
"We are partnering with Petco Love Lost, says Riverside County Department of Animal Services Kerri Mabee. "It's a platform that allows you to take a photo of your pet uploaded; it's for free. And should someone find that pet, and hopefully they do. They can also do the same thing, take a photo of the pet upload it, and it will make a digital match, a facial recognition match.
During natural disasters -- county officials say pets can get lost. Their advice is to label your animal's collar and carriers properly.
As storms pass through, people might be experiencing power outages and need assistance for their pets. "In the event of an outage, or let's just say a family finds itself in an area where they need to be evacuated, they're in distress, they need assistance with perhaps transporting their animals; Yes, they can call Department of Animal Services." says, Mabee.
