The 32nd Annual Morongo Thunder and Lightning Powwow kicks off Native American Day

The 32nd Annual Morongo Thunder and Lightning Powwow kicks off on California's Native American Day. Their public relations team says this event will attract over 900 tribal dancers and 20 drum groups from the U.S. and Canada.

The event is free to enter.

Friday, Sept. 22: 8 pm

Saturday, Sept. 23: 1 pm & 8 pm

Sunday, Sept. 24: 1 pm

Powwows are social gatherings of Native Americans who follow traditional dances started centuries ago by their ancestors, which continually evolve to include contemporary aspects. Officials say the Grand Entry runs around 8 p.m. on Friday. The entrance is a Native American tradition that signifies the opening of each Powwow session.
