Veterans’ Services to relaunch field visits in Palm Springs and Blythe

Beginning today, the Riverside County Department of Veterans' Services team will begin providing services to veterans in Palm Springs and Blythe on a monthly basis.

The department is making its outreach services available at two locations: the Mizell Center in Palm Springs, and the Blythe VFW Post 2987.

Field visits at the Palm Springs location will be available from 9:00 A.M. to 2:00 P.M. every second Wednesday of the month. The Blythe location will serve veterans from 9:00 A.M. to 2:00 P.M. every third Wednesday of the month.

During the visits, veterans can talk with professionals about disability pension claims, appeals, survivors benefits, education, healthcare benefits and more. They will also be able to get assistance with requesting military records and VA home loans.

The county had originally offered these services before the COVID-19 pandemic, but put appointments on hold until now. The department says it's bringing on additional staff to help with current demands.

In addition to these monthly field visits, veterans and family members can get help over the phone by calling the department’s Indio branch office at 760-863-8266, can call to schedule an appointment, and can walk in to the Indio office to receive assistance.
