Riverside County Sheriff’s Department confirms a suspect was shot by deputies overnight in La Quinta
A deputy-involved shooting took place on the 44000 block of Vista Dunes Lane in La Quinta around midnight Wednesday.
The incident is part of an investigation into an assault with a deadly weapon in North La Quinta, according to the Riverside County Sheriff's Department.
The Sheriff's Department says multiple commands were given; but, the suspect failed to comply. Then, the deputy-involved shooting occurred.
The suspect was located when deputies arrived. The suspect was armed with a knife, which was later located at the scene.
The suspect sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to a local hospital. No deputies were injured.
The department has not released the suspect's identity.
The involved deputy will be put on paid administrative leave, following department policy.

Deputies were present on Miles Ave between Adam St and Seeley Lane since Midnight, resulting in the closure of that section of Miles Ave. This part of Miles Ave has since been reopened.
The forensics team, detectives, and deputies closed off an area beyond the Redeemer Bible Church, in front of an apartment complex. This area has also been reopened.
Residents in the apartment complex were able to exit, but no other vehicles were permitted to enter the street between midnight and 7:00 a.m. on Thursday morning.
The investigation is ongoing, and no additional details will be released at this time by the Riverside County Sheriff's Department.
