Man accused of vandalism, burglary at Starbucks in downtown Palm Springs
Police arrested a man accused of throwing a rock through the window of the Starbucks in downtown Palm Springs Monday morning.
The vandalism was reported at approximately 7:05 AM, at the Starbucks Reserve at 111 N Palm Canyon Drive.
Police said a caller reported that a man threw a rock through the front window of the Starbucks. Officers were able to locate the suspect, with the help of a witness.
During the investigation, it was determined the suspect had entered the business and broke the window from inside.
Police said the suspect has been arrested for felony vandalism on July 9th, 2022. During that incident, Moon threw a rock and shattered the window of Il Corso, a business neighboring the Starbucks.
The suspect remained in custody until July 13th when he pled guilty and was charged with a misdemeanor violation of vandalism and received summary probation.
Police said the Starbucks vandalism is unrelated to the recent break-ins.
Back in May, several downtown Palm Springs businesses were the victims of acid graffiti vandalism.
PSPD Community Service Officers walked downtown to meet with business owners to share vandalism prevention tips and identify if there were any additional victims.
In addition, a series of break-ins recently in the city raised concerns from business owners. Earlier this month, there were additional break-ins at the Sandwich Spot and 1501 Gastro Pub, both located off of North Palm Canyon Drive.
Another break-in recently occurred at the AIM Mail Center.
As with all suspicious activity, police ask that call 911 or the non-emergency dispatch line at 760-327-1441.
