Hispanic Heritage Month takes place from September 15 through October 15 every year as a time to recognize and celebrate the many contributions, diverse cultures, and extensive histories of the American Latino community. September 15th marks the anniversary of independence for the Latin American countries of Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and Nicaragua. Mexico and Chile also celebrate their independence during this time.
In the Coachella Valley, we have traditionally honored this month by hosting a large community celebration in partnership with the City of Coachella: Fiestas Patrias – El Grito, a vibrant event that welcomed 15,000+ attendees at Rancho Las Flores Park.
However, due to recent immigration activity in the area and out of an abundance of caution, together we have chosen not to host a large in-person gathering this year. In doing our part to prioritize the safety of our community and avoid drawing unwanted attention, we are instead focusing on a series of smaller, more personal events and a robust celebration that highlights the traditional El Grito Ceremony on 9/14/25 held at Fantasy Springs Resort Casino and will be LIVE on Telemundo 15 at 6pm. We will also be sharing inspiring stories of individuals in our community and also promote shopping with local businesses.
