Student-Athlete of the Week – Delaney Tingle
We know Palm Desert athletics is a powerhouse here in the desert, but let me tell you about the girl's tennis program.
The lady Aztecs have won 17 Straight league titles dating back to 2006 and a big reason why is players leaders like Delaney Tingle
"I took this team over from my daughter Morgan, Delaney was a player on that team as well. And I'd asked Morgan, beginning of the year, who would you suggest as a captain, the premier decision was to go with Delaney and I couldn't have picked anybody better. She was critical to our success," said Owen McIntosh, Palm Desert tennis coach.
"I love being a part of a team. It's my favorite. If I could just do this, it would be great," Tingle said. "I love this team. I feel like all of us are super close."
"Probably the best leader that I've ever had coaching a team and I've coached a lot of teams," McIntosh said.
"I love being that person for them," Tingle said.
Tingle can strike it. Natural rhythms with such a great feel for the game. She plays in tournaments outside of high school and loves to compete.
"Forehands friends are my favorite," Tingle said.
"She's got D-1 skills, there's no doubt about it. She could play on tour right now with that serve. So there's nothing but good things that are going to happen to her because of this game," McIntosh said.
"Even, even when we don't have practice. We have a day off. It's not really a day off for me," Tingle said.
"No matter what she does where she goes. She's going to be one of the best players around. If she plays club tennis as an adult, she'll be the best player at the club," McIntosh said.
Tennis and Delaney aren't separating anytime soon.
