First Alert Weather Alert extended: flood concerns continue through this morning
The First Alert Weather Alert has been extended through this morning as flood concerns continue.
A Flood Advisory is in effect for the Whitewater River and Coachella Storm Water Channel through 9:44 a.m. Due to the heavy rainfall surrounding the Coachella Valley, we will continue to see significant flow resulting in road closures. A Wind Advisory is also in place until 1 p.m.
Rainfall totals over the past 72 hours have been quite impressive, especially through the San Gorgonio Pass and High Desert. Lesser amounts were collected in the east valley, but Indio has still recorded 0.20".
As of this morning, Mt. San Jacinto measured over 11" of fresh snowfall. Traveling up and down from higher elevations will be impossible at times due to reduced visibility from blowing snow.
Cool temperatures continue through the week, at times 10° below seasonable averages (in the low 70s). Dry conditions look to follow this round of rain. Overnight low temperatures stay in the low 40s and 30s.
